This is an extended meeting from 6:30pm to 8:45pm
The weeks before the Annual Show are always pretty hectic, so we hope you had the chance to relax a bit because we have a couple of months full of excitement ahead of us with extended meetings both in June and July, and a choke-full schedule that will give you that extra does of bonsai content that we all love.
First and foremost we will have discussion on the Annual Show, and if you entered one or more trees you will get a critique sheet for each one of your entries. The judge spent a fair amount of time examining each tree in the show, and gave plenty of feedback on what he liked of each tree and what he thinks could be done to take them to the next level. Also if you got a ribbon (see previous post here), this meeting is as good a time as any to brag about it.
Second item on the agenda is the silent auction, here the link to the post in case you missed it. We will start with a silent auction with a sign-up sheet where each member can drop their name and bid during the meeting. Towards the end of the meeting we will have a closer look at each tree and give everyone the chance of placing a final bid. If you can’t attend the meeting you can have a proxy bid for them. More info will be given in the newsletter.
Finally we will formally present the plans for Young Choe visit in July. If you never heard of her, she’s an amazing kusamono artist, and I don’t think I need to add much more because her work speak for itself (check it out here). She will have a demo on the July meeting where she will build two kusamono that will be auctioned (only BBS members can bid). Then, on Saturday July 12th she will have two workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon at the cost is $75 for BBS members, or $95 for non members. Participants can bring their own pots, but we will also have a limited selection to purchase the day of the workshop. BBS Members will be given priority to register for the workshops. If any slot is left after the end of the June meeting the remaining will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis to anyone interested.
